Alexandrovsky Garden

Alexandrovsky Garden is located in the historical center of Nizhny Novgorod, near the Kremlin and Volga River embankment. Previously, there was Panskaya Sloboda, inhabited by foreign prisoners. The garden opened in 1835 under Emperor Nikolay I's decree and became the city's first public park. Its main attraction is the unique Chkalovskaya staircase designed in the shape of an eight. There is also a musical shell stage restored after a fire in 1958. The total area of the park is approximately 35 hectares.

The Kremlin has the second largest area among Russian fortresses after Moscow, its territory includes art museums, exhibition centers and a concert hall of the philharmonic society. From the viewing platform of the northern facade there is a view of the confluence of the Volga and Oka rivers.

The sculpture was created by Alexander Kolobov and initially made from concrete with a bronze imitation due to metal shortage during the war. Later it was replaced by a bronze version. The monument to Kuzma Minin and Prince Pozharsky is located on Unity Square in Nizhny Novgorod. It was opened on November 4, 2005 by Patriarch Alexius II. The sculpture was created according to Zurab Tsereteli's project and is a smaller copy of the monument on Red Square in Moscow. On the pedestal of the memorial composition there is an engraved inscription: "To Prince Pozharsky and citizen Minin grateful Russia". Nearby is the Church of the Birth of John the Baptist, from where Minin addressed the Нижегородцы with a call to the army against Polish interveners in 1611.
