Museum of the History of Artistic Crafts of the Nizhny Novgorod Region

The Museum of the History of Artistic Crafts of the Nizhny Novgorod Region is situated on Bolshaya Pokrovskaya Street in the building "Artistic Crafts". It showcases traditional clothing, household items and musical instruments of ethnic groups such as Moksha, Erza, Teryuhan, Mari, Mishar and Chuvash. Special attention is given to collections from Nizhny Novgorod merchant Dmitry Syrotkin and renowned photographer Andrey Karelin. Among exhibits stands out Zhbannikovka whistle toy and interior of a rural church with wooden sculpture and doors covered with gold leaf. The exhibition covers the development period of Nizhny Novgorod crafts from the 17th century until today.
