Pyotr I House

Pyotr I's House in Nizhny Novgorod is situated on Pochainskaya Street, 27. This historical building, an architectural monument from the late 17th century, previously belonged to merchant Chatygin. In 1890-1892 renovations were carried out with the aim of accommodating Pyotr's Historical Museum founded by the Nizhny Novgorod Gubernatorial Learned Archival Commission. The museum opened its doors on January 3, 1895, showcasing over 1350 exhibits including items related to church, domestic and military life. Later, the collection was moved to Dmitrievskaya Tower.
