Cathedral of Saint Alexander Nevsky
Нижний Новгород, ул. Стрелка, 3а
The cathedral dedicated to Saint Faithful Prince Alexander Nevsky is located at the confluence of the Volga and Oka rivers, being the tallest church in the city. Inside, after a fire in the 1940s, painting frescoes were restored. A monument to Alexander Nevsky was installed nearby (installed in 2021). The architectural object has significant historical value and is emblematic for Nizhny Novgorod. In the 1920s, it was planned to demolish it to install a Lenin monument, but this project never materialized.
