Mikhail-Arkangel Cathedral

Mikhail-Arkhangelsky Cathedral is situated in the Kremlin of Nizhny Novgorod. The building was constructed from 1628 to 1631 in memory of the popular militia led by Kuzma Minin. Inside the cathedral there are banners of the Nizhny Novgorod troops from 1612 and 1812, as well as remains of Minin after the destruction of Spaso-Preobrazhensky Cathedral. The cathedral has a rectangular tetraconch with three porches and a three-part altar. In the 14th century it was a palace church for the princes of the Nizhny Novgorod-Suzdal Principality.
