Blagoveshchensky Monastery

Blagoveshchensky men's monastery is situated on Millennium Lane in Nizhny Novgorod. Founded simultaneously with the city in 1221, it includes four white stone churches and one cathedral. Special attention draws Blagoveshchensky cathedral with its majestic interior space, ancient iconostasis and frescoes. From the monastery's observation deck there is a picturesque view of the Oka River. Daily services are held in Blagoveshchensky cathedral and Alexeyevsky church. The monastery has a rich history confirmed by Mitrofan Izinsky's charter from 1416-1417.
