Church of the Nativity of John the Baptist

The Church of the Nativity of John the Baptist in Nizhny Novgorod is one of the oldest, with mentions dating back to the 15th century. The stone building of the temple was constructed in 1683 on the site of the previous wooden structure. From the porch, Kuzma Minin addressed the citizens in 1611, calling for a popular militia against Polish interlopers. The cellar of the church once served as shops for merchants. The church is located on the street of Christmas, which has significant historical importance for Nizhny Novgorod.
