Нижний Новгород, Верхне-Волжская набережная — Нижне-Волжская набережная

Chkalovskaya staircase, shaped like an eight, connects Minin and Pozharsky Square with the Lower Volga Embankment. Built in 1949, it has 560 steps. From its top there is a picturesque view of the Volga River and the confluence. The staircase symbolizes victory in the Battle of Stalingrad and is commemorated by a monument to the hero ship "Hero". It is one of the main attractions of Nizhny Novgorod.
