The Nizhny Novgorod Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre named after A.S. Pushkin was founded in 1935 and is located in the Soviet district of Nizhny Novgorod city. Its large auditorium accommodates 1152 seats. The theater is famous for hosting the annual All-Russian Pushkin Festival "Bolshino Autumn" since 1986. There are a symphony orchestra, choir, ballet troupe, and soloists performing there. The repertoire includes operas, ballets, and operettas of classical music from both Russian and foreign origins.
