Krestovozdvizhensky Sobor in Petrozavodsk was built in 1848–1852 under the supervision of Archbishop Venyedikt and consecrated in December 1852 by Archbishop Arkadiy. The architect was Vasily Tukharov. The church is located at Volkhovskaya Street, house 1 and is one of few functioning churches of Soviet times, reopening after a brief closure in 1941.

The Republic of Karelia Museum of Fine Arts in Petrozavodsk is located in an historical building from the 18th century, built in 1790 and formerly belonging to the Olonets Male Gymnasium. Its collection includes over 16,000 exhibits, including more than 2,500 Karelian icons, about 2,000 items of folk and decorative-applied arts from the XIX-XX centuries, as well as a collection of approximately 700 works dedicated to the epic "Kalevala". The museum's pride are works by students of Pavel Filonov. An audio guide is available in three languages.

The Republic of Karelia Music Theatre is located on Kirov Square in Petrozavodsk. It is the largest stage in the republic known for staging the first Karelian ballet "Sampo". The theater can accommodate up to 607 spectators and offers classical opera and ballet, operetta, musicals and musical comedies. The architecture of the building is inspired by Moscow's Bolshoi Theater and executed in a classic style with white columns. The facade is decorated with sculptural compositions by famous sculptor S. Konenkov. After the reconstruction at the end of the 2000s, the theater updated its modern appearance.

The National Museum of the Republic of Karelia is located on Lenina Square in Petrozavodsk and is the oldest museum institution in North-West Russia, founded in 1871. Its 24 halls display exhibits reflecting the history and culture of Karelia from ancient times to the end of the 19th century. The history of the theatre began with the opening of the People's House in Petrozavodsk on December 26, 1906, where a professional theatrical ensemble first appeared.

Every winter there is Hyperborea Festival where ice and snow figures are built. In summer it becomes a place for folk festivities and watching Oneg Regatta. The opening took place on June 25, 1994.
Pyotr I Monument

The monument to Pyotr I is situated on Onega Boulevard in Petrozavodsk. It was unveiled in 1873 to mark the centennial of the Onenga factory and portrays the emperor in formal attire with a sword. The base is constructed from Serdobol granite designed by architect I.A. Monigetti. Pyotr indicates with his right hand the location where the cannon foundry was founded at the mouth of the Lososina River in 1703. The sculpture was produced by the Moordan Works in Saint Pyotrsburg following the design of sculptor I.N. Shreder.

It allegorically depicts the birth of Petrozavodsk as a defensive outpost of Russia. The central figure is a young warrior in a boat holding a shield with the emblem of Petrozavodsk and a spear.
Sculpture "Under the Same Stars"

The sculpture "Under the Same Stars" is located on Onega Embankment in Petrozavodsk. It is made from a heavy stainless steel plate weighing 960 kg and is a gift from the city of Neubrandenburg (Germany). The author of the work is German sculptor Rainer Kessler, who also engraved a star map and an image of a scorpion onto the monument. The sculpture was installed in 2000 and mounted under the personal supervision of the author.

Created by German artists Bernhard Vogelmann and Kurt Geißelhardt at the factory "Petrozavodsmash," it comprises 61 metal poles of varying heights, shapes, and colors, each featuring stones from historic sites in Karelia and Germany. Grief, joy, and unity are symbolized through the design and placement of the poles. Locals refer to it variously as "Monument to a Set of Lock Picks," "Thinking Reed," "Parachutist's Death." Installed in 1994.
