Tübingen Fresco

On the Onezhskaya Embankment in Petrozavodsk there is an unusual sculpture called "Tübingen Panel." Created by German artists Bernhard Vogelmann and Kurt Geißelhardt at the factory "Petrozavodsmash," it comprises 61 metal poles of varying heights, shapes, and colors, each featuring stones from historic sites in Karelia and Germany. Grief, joy, and unity are symbolized through the design and placement of the poles. Locals refer to it variously as "Monument to a Set of Lock Picks," "Thinking Reed," "Parachutist's Death." Installed in 1994.
