Onezh Sculpture (Birth of Pyotrozavodsk)

The sculpture "Onego" is installed on Onega Embankment in Pyotrozavodsk. It allegorically depicts the birth of the city as a defensive outpost of Russia. It shows a young warrior in a boat holding a shield with the emblem of Pyotrozavodsk and a spear. Presented by Leningrad Oblast to celebrate the 300th anniversary of the capital of Karelia, it was created by sculptors Alexander and Vladislav Manachinsky with the involvement of architects Valery Kim and Nikolay Mikhailov.
