The Republic of Karelia Museum of Fine Arts in Pyotrozavodsk is located in an historical building from the 18th century, built in 1790 and formerly belonging to the Olonets Male Gymnasium. Its collection includes over 16,000 exhibits, including more than 2,500 Karelian icons, about 2,000 items of folk and decorative-applied arts from the XIX-XX centuries, as well as a collection of approximately 700 works dedicated to the epic "Kalevala". The museum's pride are works by students of Pavel Filonov. An audio guide is available in three languages.
