National Museum of Republic of Karelia

The National Museum of the Republic of Karelia is located on Circle Square in Pyotrozavodsk. It is the largest historical and regional museum in the region with a collection of over 230,000 exhibits. Founded in 1871 by Olonets Governor Grigory Grinev. The buildings of the museum complex are recognized as cultural monuments of federal level and are part of the historical and architectural ensemble. There is also a souvenir shop functioning within the museum. Exhibitions cover the archaeology of Karelia.
