National Museum of Republic Karelia

The National Museum of the Republic of Karelia is located on Lenina Square in Pyotrozavodsk and is the oldest museum institution in North-West Russia, founded in 1871. Its 24 halls display exhibits reflecting the history and culture of Karelia from ancient times to the end of the 19th century. Visitors can view archaeological finds, artifacts, and items related to the everyday life of the Karelo-Finnish people, participate in guided tours, and use audio guides. Adjacent are the museum's branches - the "Marcial Waters" health resort and the Sheltozersky Museum of Veps Ethnography. The museum's collection numbers over 230,000 items.
