National Library of Republic of Karelia

The National Library of the Republic of Karelia is situated at Pushkinskaya Street, 5 in Pyotrozavodsk. It was founded as the city's first public library due to the initiative of Olonets Governor A.I. Yakovlev. The library's collection includes rare books from the 18th to 20th centuries, along with a rarest books sector and work on book monuments established in 1995. Various educational events and literary gatherings take place here. Previously, it was named Alexeevskaya after a donation from Grand Duke.
