Precambrian Geology Museum (National Museum's Natural Heritage Division)

The Museum of Precambrian Geology is located in Pyotrozavodsk on Friedrich Engels Street, 5. It was created as a department of the National Museum's natural heritage and specializes in studying the earliest geological history of Earth, particularly Precambrian formations of Karelia. Unique samples of rocks and minerals from the Baltic Shield are exhibited here, which help to understand early stages of planet development. The museum was founded on May 18, 1961.
