Visitors can see famous fairy tale characters such as Tsarевна-lягушка, Ivan-czarевич and Baba-yaga, as well as Mari epic heroes - Chotkar the knight and Khan Akpars. The exhibition consists of sculptures directly on the facade of a residential building and is free to visit around the clock.

Founded on March 4, 1920, it houses over 228,000 exhibits including archaeological artifacts of ancient Mari people from the 6th to 13th centuries, works by early Mari painters of the 20th century and materials about Orthodox Christianity. The museum has branches: the Museum of the History of Orthodoxy and a children's exhibition center. In 2024, a patriotic center "Heroes of the Fatherland" opened.

The "Yoskin Cat" monument is located on Lenin's проспект in Yoshkar-Ola, in front of the Mari State University entrance. It was installed in 2011 and quickly became a symbol of the city. According to local lore, touching the statue's paw and making a wish can make it come true. The cat's image is taken from a local euphemism "Yoskin cat," where the name of the city sounds similar to the first part of the expression. The sculpture is also popular among tourists due to souvenir products featuring its image.

The monument to Governor Ivan Akimovich Obolensky-Nogotkov stands on his namesake square in Yoshkar-Ola. A six-meter-high sculpture weighing six tons depicts a warrior proudly sitting on a horse with weapons in hand. He was the first governor of Tsaritsynokokshaysk, founded in 1584. The monument's opening took place on May 8, 2007; its design sketch was created by Andrey Kovalkhuk, secretary of the Union of Russian Artists.

On Patriarch Square in Yoshkar-Ola there are unique clocks "12 Apostles". In 2011, here appeared the only Russian chimes with moving apostle sculptures led by Jesus Christ. Every day, every three hours from nine in the morning until nine in the evening, twelve figures come out of the tower accompanied by music. The building of the clock is made in the style of Sheremetev Castle from Yurino.
