Марийский академический театр оперы и балета им. Э. Сапаева

The Mari Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre named after E. Sapaev is located in Yoshkar-Ola at Komsomolskaya Street, 130. It was opened in 1969 with an opera performance titled "Akpatyr". The theatre performs national pieces ("Akpatyr", "Aldyar") and ballets ("Forest Legend"). It collaborates with renowned directors and choreographers from various countries. Since 1999, Konstantin Ivanov has been leading the ballet troupe, previously performing at the Bolshoi Theatre.
