Alexius II Patriarch Monument

The monument to Patriarch Alexius II was installed in Yoshkar-Ola on Patriarch's Square. It was opened on August 4, 2010. The sculptor is Russia's People's Artist Andrey Kovalychuk. The patriarch's figure, more than 3.5 meters tall, is made of bronze and stands on a pedestal with an inscription about his role in establishing the Yoshkar-Ola and Mari Eparchy. In his left hand, the sculpture holds a staff; his right hand is raised holding a dove. The sculpture was cast in Zhukovskiy, Moscow Oblast.
