Museum of City History Yoshkar-Ola

The Museum of the History of Yoshkar-Ola is located at 45 Voznesenskaya Street. It was founded on February 1, 1996 and opened to visitors on September 30 of the same year. The exhibition covers the period from the city's foundation until the 1917 revolution. Among the exhibits there are valuable photographs of views of Tsarevkokshaisk and Yoshkar-Ola from the late 19th to early 20th centuries, documents, photos and items of urban byta. The museum building is the former house of merchant Chulkov. A special place is occupied by the collection of heraldic signs of Russian cities.
