Mari National Drama Theatre imeni M. Shketan

Mari National Drama Theatre named after M. Shketan is situated on Lenin Square in Yoshkar-Ola. Founded in 1919 as a traveling theater for the Mari people, since October 1929 it has been professional. The theater's repertoire features plays by Mari dramatists performed in the Mari language, making it a unique cultural institution in the region. It is among the oldest cultural centers of the republic.
