Here the pre-revolutionary atmosphere of Vologda is recreated, allowing visitors to immerse themselves in the lifestyle and culture of that time. The complex is often referred to as the merchant Samarin's house.

It is a 17th-century architectural monument featuring an exhibition dedicated to Pyotr I's reign and reforms of the first quarter of the 18th century. More than 130 historical items can be seen here, including antique chairs from 1704 and a bell with Pyotr I's monogram and the date 1706.

The Sophy Cathedral in Vologda, founded in 1567, is an important historical monument of the region. The main building was constructed from 1568 to 1570, while the bell tower was reconstructed in 1870 according to architect V.N. Shildknecht's project. Spaso-Prilutsky Monastery in Vologda is one of Russia's oldest northern monasteries, founded in the 1380s by Saint Dmitry Prilutski. Already in the 15th century it became famous due to the holiness of its founder. In the 16th century stone buildings were erected here, and fortress walls with towers appeared in the mid-17th century. After a long break, the monastery reopened in 1991.

Shalamovsky House

Shalamov House is located in Vologda at Sergei Orlov Street, 15. It is a two-story building built in 1844 for the Vologda Eparchy. Since 1988, it houses collections of Russian art from the 18th to early 20th century and Western European painting and graphics from the 17th to 19th centuries. The first floor hosts the memorial museum of writer Varlam Tikhonovich Shalamov, where there are also artistic exhibitions. The house is the birthplace and early residence of the author of the autobiographical novel "Fourth Vologda".
