Shalamovsky House

Shalamov House is located in Vologda at Sergei Orlov Street, 15. It is a two-story building built in 1844 for the Vologda Eparchy. Since 1988, it houses collections of Russian art from the 18th to early 20th century and Western European painting and graphics from the 17th to 19th centuries. The first floor hosts the memorial museum of writer Varlam Tikhonovich Shalamov, where there are also artistic exhibitions. The house is the birthplace and early residence of the author of the autobiographical novel "Fourth Vologda".
