Church of the Holy Martyr Blaise Bishop of Sebaste

The Church of the Holy Martyr Blaise, Bishop of Sebaste, in Vologda, which gave its name to the former Vlasevskaya Street (now Chelyuskintsev Street), is historically connected to the Obukhovskaya Sloboda. In February 2026, volunteers from the "Dobrotoolyubie" Foundation completed the preparation of the interior premises for restoration by removing later ceilings and revealing historical arched vaults. After the cessation of services in 1929, the building was rebuilt: the bell tower was dismantled, the altar apse was destroyed, and the interior space was divided into several floors for economic needs. The church had four altars: St. Nicholas, St. Simeon, St. Alexius, and the Don Icon of the Mother of God.
