Church of Saint Alexander Nevsky

The Church of Saint Alexander Nevsky in Vologda is a regional architectural monument of the 18th century, which was originally consecrated in the name of Saint Nicholas the Wonderworker. The stone building was constructed in 1747–1750, and in 1869 the church was reconsecrated in the name of Saint Alexander Nevsky. In 2002, six new bells were raised to the bell tower, and in 2004 the historical side chapel of Venerable Kirill of Novoezersk was restored. The main altar of the church was consecrated on December 6, 1997, and the first liturgy after the restoration works took place on November 20 of the same year.
