Cathedral of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary

Cathedral Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Vologda, situated at Govarovsky Prospekt 2A, is an active church with daily services. The cathedral's building was constructed in 1836 following initial construction in 1832. Inside the temple there is an icon of Our Lady "Skoroposlushnitsa". Adjacent to it is Bogoroditskoe Cemetery where burials have taken place since 1781. In 1772 Catherine II ordered the establishment of new city cemeteries outside the urban area.
