Bell Tower of St. Sophia Cathedral

The Bell Tower of St. Sophia Cathedral in Vologda, built in 1654–1659, is part of the Vologda Cathedral complex and is an object of cultural heritage of federal significance. In 1869–1870, the structure was rebuilt in the Neo-Gothic style under the direction of provincial engineer Alexander Ivanovich Ivanitsky, and in 1871, a clock from the Moscow factory of the Butenop brothers was installed on it. In 1967, the restoration of the clock mechanism was carried out by craftsman Valentin Korolkov and locksmith Boris Sosin. The bell tower serves as an observation deck of the Vologda Kremlin.
