Mark Chagall Art Center

The Mark Chagall Art Center is located at Putna Street, 2 in Vitebsk. It features a permanent exhibition of graphic works by the artist, including a series of illustrations for the poem by N.V. Gogol "Dead Souls". The center also has a specialized library on contemporary art and was founded in 1992 thanks to collector Heinrich Hendel Mandel. The theatre was awarded the title of Honored Collective of Belarus in 2000 and is known for its five Grand Prizes at international festivals. Its repertoire includes performances suitable for audiences of all ages. In the lobby there is a museum of dolls and stage elements. The troupe separated from the puppet company attached to Yakub Kolas Theatre in 1990.

Blagoveshchenskaya Church is situated on Zamkovaya Street in Vitebsk. Built on the left bank of the Western Dvina River, it was demolished in 1961 but reconstructed in the style of the XII century from 1993 to 1998. A significant event was the visit of the Patriarch Alexius II in 1998 and the first liturgy held in the restored church in January 1999. VGU Botanical Garden is situated in Vitebsk on Uritskogo Street, 3. It occupies an area near the valley of river Vit'by and the natural relief of the city center. Established as a private park, later transformed into an educational department of the university after the status change of the pedagogical institute in 1995. The garden serves for scientific activities, student training and nature conservation. In 1919, an instructional-demonstration garden was created on the slopes of the right bank of Vit'by.

Governor's Palace is situated in the historical center of Vitebsk. Originally it belonged to the Kudinoviches family and was built in 1772. Since 1806 it has been used as the governor's residence. Here Grand Duke Konstantin Pavlovich passed away in 1831. In 1839 the palace was visited by Tsarevich Alexander Nicholaevich, who later became Emperor Alexander II. The building served as the residence for general governors and governors of the Vitebsk province.

Dukhovsky Kruglik - artistic reconstruction of the Lower Castle tower, located at Vitebsk, Frunze Avenue, 11a. The building is named after Dukhovskaya Church and has a height of 27 meters with a base size of 9.2 by 9.2 meters. Inside the tower, the foundation of the stone tower from the 14th century, discovered during archaeological excavations in 1984, was restored. On the second level there is an exhibition featuring a plan of Vitebsk from the 1664 Chertezh. The project's author is architect Ruslan Lyadenko.

Vitebsk Railway Station is located on Kosmonavtov Street, 8. The building is executed in the style of Soviet neoclassicism and was built in 1952 by architect B. Mezentsev. The original station was expanded in 1912. Since 1902 it has been a junction due to the opening of the Vitebsk-Zhlobin branch line. In 1966 a plaque commemorating the centenary of the Vitebsk railway junction was installed, while in 1965 there was a memorial plaque marking Mikhail Kalinin's speech.

Memorial Complex "Three Bayonets" is situated in the historical center of Vitebsk. It was opened in 1974 and dedicated to the liberation of Vitebsk region from fascists. The central part of the composition consists of three tall obelisks symbolizing bayonets. On the memorial site there are ten pylons with commemorative dates of World War II. There is also a composition with Eternal Flame. The memorial is below the level of Victory Square and is known among locals as "Three Bayonets" or "Treshka". The project was designed by engineers V. Chekalin and A. Iokne.

The museum preserves documents and materials reflecting resistance against Nazi occupation. A park in front of the museum features an oak alley planted by former partisans. The institution was founded in 1966 and is part of the Vitebsk museums system.

Frunze Park occupies an area of about 15 hectares in the historical center of Vitebsk. It is situated on the banks of the Vitba River and Duna stream, where walking bridges have been constructed. More than 700 trees and shrubs grow in the park. Previously, there was an Archiepiscopal Garden near the residence of the bishop of Vitebsk. After the October Revolution, the park became accessible to all city residents and received its name in honor of M.I. Frunze in 1926. In Soviet times, amusement rides operated within it.

The original wooden town hall stood on the Market Square and burned down several times in fires. The stone structure had two floors and a tower above its central part. Until 1828 there was an old Polish coat-of-arms of Vitebsk on the tower.
