Vitebsk Melody on French Violin Monument

The monument "Vitebsk Melody on French Violin" was installed in Vitebsk in the courtyard of Shagal's House-Museum. It was unveiled on July 7, 1997 and created by sculptor Valery Moguchy. Young Marc Chagall is depicted half-sitting on an ass's back, recalling his childhood and early impressions that inspired the artist. The composition emphasizes the connection with the master's Vitebsk roots.
