Holy Pokrov Cathedral

The Holy Pokrovsky Cathedral is situated at Shubina Street, 2 in Vitebsk. It is an architectural monument from the 19th century originally built as a stone church for the monastery of trinitarian monks. After the dissolution of the Catholic monastery it was transferred to the Orthodox community. Interior paintings were done by Moscow iconographer Vladimir Sidelnikov. Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia Alexius II visited here. The cathedral belongs to the Vitebsk diocese. Restoration works began there in 1986.
