Freedom Square Vitebsk

Freedom Square is located in the historical center of Vitebsk, near the mouth of the Vitbya River and an ensemble of old buildings including Town Hall and the Resurrection Church. Previously known as Cathedral and Assembly Constituent Square. In January 1919 it received its current name. In 1917 there was planned construction of a column in memory of the Constituent Assembly, and in 1935 a tram circle was installed here.
