Vitebsk, Heroes of the Patriotic War of 1812 Square

The monument to heroes of the War of 1812 is situated in Heroes' Square on Uspenskaya Hill in Vitebsk. It was built in 1911-1912 to commemorate the centennial victory over Napoleon. The monument honors Russian soldiers who defended the city in July and October 1812. The memorial site is connected to the Park of Partisan Glory and is close to the Governor's Palace.
