Alesha Monument

Memorial "Defenders of Soviet Arctic" also known as "Alesha", is located on a high hill called Zelyony Les in Murmansk. Its height reaches over 50 meters making it the second largest monument after Volgograd's "Mother Motherland". The project was designed by architect I.A. Pokrovsky and sculptor I.D. Brodsky. It was opened in 1974 to commemorate the victory of Soviet troops in the Arctic. Nearby the monument there are authentic anti-aircraft guns from World War II. At the base of the monument there are capsules containing soil from the Valley of Glory and seawater from the site where the ship "Fog" sank.

Memorial Complex "Seamen Who Died in Peace Time" in Murmansk is a hexagonal lighthouse-tower 17.5 meters high located between Chyeluskintsev Street and Heroes of North Fleet Avenue. From its observation deck there is an impressive view of Kolsky Bay and the city. On the lighthouse wall there's a handprint - a symbolic farewell gesture to seamen who have forever left for sea. Nearby the lighthouse is a section of the submarine Kursk's conning tower. Inside the tower there is a memory museum with memorial plaques and a capsule of seawater under a ship's anchor. At the top of the complex stands the Church of Savior-on- Waters.

Murmansk Regional Museum of Local Lore is located at Lenina Avenue, 90 in Murmansk. Founded on October 17, 1926, it is the oldest museum in the region. After reconstruction in 2025, a new building with 14 interactive thematic halls opened. The exhibition includes a unique collection of cores from Kola Superdeep Borehole up to 12 kilometers deep. The museum has branches in Lovozero and Umbo, an extensive library with over 18 thousand publications and collections exceeding 170 thousand exhibits. About one hundred temporary exhibitions are held annually here.

The sculptors are Igor Chumakov and Yuri Anushko. The idea of creating the monument came from the poem "Sentimental Watch" by Victor Timofeev, which reflects the themes of love and loyalty.

In Murmansk amusement park by Semenovsky Lake stands a bronze statue of cat Semen. The cat is shown seated on a bench holding a roadside sack in its paws. This memorial honors a genuine traveler—a cat who became lost in Moscow in 1987 and, after six years, made it to Murmansk, covering approximately two thousand kilometers. The monument was unveiled in 2013 and has since become one of the city's most popular spots for photography.
