Five Corners Square

Five Corners Square in Murmansk is the main square of the city located at the intersection of five roads forming a pentagonal rhombus. Its name is related to the historical five roads leading here, although now there are only four left. Important city buildings include the Murmansk Regional Assembly, Kirov Cultural Palace, Main Post Office, hotels "Arktika" and "Meridian", and department store "Volna". In the center of the square stands the AZIMUT hotel - the tallest structure north of the polar circle. In 1916, they laid the Church of Saint Nikolay of Myra considered as the birthplace of the city.
