St. Nikolay Cathedral

The Cathedral of St. Nikolay is located in Murmansk on Zelenoy Street, 11. Built from 1986 to 1989, it is the main church of the Murmansk Diocese and houses important Orthodox relics. The building is made of white brick with several blue domes and a golden central dome. Inside the cathedral there are luxurious icons and colorful wall paintings. The temple is named after Saint Nikolay, the patron saint of sailors, and includes the churches of Tрифon Pechengsky and the icon of Our Lady. Until the 1980s, this was the only church in Murmansk.
