Tuna Monument

In Murmansk, on Lenina Avenue, there is a monument to cod installed. It was opened on October 2, 2015, in the park on Five Corners Square. A bronze sculpture weighing 32 kg depicts a fish 1.2 meters long and symbolizes the importance of cod in the diet of Murmankans, especially during wartime years. The monument also highlights the richness of fish stocks in the Barents Sea. The idea for creating the monument came from local residents in 2014.
