Murmansk, Semenovskoe Lake South Shore

Memorial Complex "Monument to the Sturdiness and Courage of Murmansk Residents During World War II" is situated on the southern shore of Semenovsky Lake in Murmansk. It was opened in June 2017. The central element of the composition is a chimney from a destroyed house shaped as a memorial, recalling the city's residents' resilience during bombings. The chimney stands about four meters high with burnt surface symbolizing city fires of that time. The complex features two observation platforms and honors the memory of events on June 18, 1942, which became one of the most difficult periods for the city.
