Murmansk Regional Museum of Local Lore

The Murmansk Regional Museum of Local Lore is situated at Lenina Avenue, 90 in Murmansk. Founded in 1926, it is the oldest museum in the region. It features 14 permanent exhibitions showcasing the area's nature and history from ancient times to present day. Over a hundred temporary exhibits are held annually. The facade of the building has a mosaic panel and an anchor — a monument to icebreaker "Yermak". Regional branches focus on culture and lifestyle of Kolsky Sami and Terskaya Pomors. The art collection formed the basis for the Murmansk Regional Art Museum in 1989.
