Metallurg Arena

Magnitogorsk, Lenin Ave, 105

The Metallurg Arena in Magnitogorsk is located at Lenina Avenue, 105. The stadium was put into operation in 2007 after construction began in autumn 2005. It can accommodate up to 7,500 spectators and serves as the home arena of hockey club Metallurg playing in the Kontinental Hockey League. Here takes place the world championship in junior ice hockey and there is a Museum of Hockey Fame with sports trophies from the local team.

Magnetic Hill

Magnetic Mountain is located in the Ordzhonikidzevsky district of Magnitogorsk and covers an area of about 25 sq. km. It belongs to the South Ural ridge and for a long time served as a source of rich deposits of hematite, which were mined since the 18th century. The Bashkir name of the mountain is Atach, associated with a hero from local epic tales. Today, the mountain has lost its industrial significance but remains an important natural attraction of the region.

The bell tower in Magnitogorsk is located on People's Gatherings Square. The tower is painted in milk color with burgundy and gold elements. After being repaired by local master V. Filimov, the clock became accurate and is illuminated at night. The 3.5-meter diameter dials are decorated with gilded hands that are 3 meters long. The project architect is A.E. Ponomarev. The upper part of the building has four dials oriented towards the cardinal points. Nearby there is a platform for holding city festivals and mass events.

Magnitogorsk Picture Gallery

Magnitogorsk Picture Gallery is the city's sole art museum. It features over 8,000 exhibits including works by artists such as I.I. Shishkin and A.M. Vasnetsov. About 30 exhibitions are held annually, along with educational programs "Art Saturdays" and "Museum Habitat". Since 2020, there has been a "Young Museum Maker School" for families with children. The core of the exhibition consists of gifts from the Soviet Union Artists' Union, totaling more than 1,200 works. The gallery offers visitors to view painting, graphics, sculpture and decorative-applied arts.

Magnitogorsk Academic Drama Theatre named after A.S. Pushkin

Magnitogorsk Academic Drama Theatre named after A.S. Pushkin was founded in 1931 as TRAM (Theatre of Young Workers). In 1967 it moved to its current building on Lenin Avenue. The theatre is known for its production "Storm," which won the Golden Mask award. Its repertoire features classic and contemporary Russian and international dramas. Notable performers associated with the stage include Leonid Brezhnev and Sergei Pushkepalis. The theater launched the social initiative "Theatrical City" and ranks among the top ten provincial theaters in Russia.

Magnitogorsk Historical and Regional Museum

The Magnitogorsk Historical and Regional Museum is located at: Magnitogorsk city, Army Street, 51A. Founded on August 31, 1944, it received its status as a historical and regional museum in 2011. The total exhibition area is about 2,200 square meters. The main exposition tells the story of Magnitogorsk's history and its contribution to Russian history. A distinctive feature of the museum is the literary department-museum-apartment of poet Boris Rushchov. The collection includes archaeological finds from the Upper Paleolithic to late medieval times, minerals from the Urals and metal artworks. The library contains over 13,000 books, including rare editions.

Magnitogorsk Puppet and Actor Theatre "Puppeteer"

The Puppet and Actor Theatre "Puppy" in Magnitogorsk is located at Boris Ruchiev Street, 7A. Founded in 1973, it is part of the national register of leading cultural institutions in Russia. The theatre offers over 30 performances for audiences of all ages, many suitable for family viewing. Its troupe consists of 14 actors, three of whom are honored as earned artists Russian Federation. In front of the theater stands a sculpture of Puppy made from three types of natural stone. Performances take place daily from Friday to Sunday at 17:00 and 18:30.

Magnitogorsk Opera and Ballet Theatre

The Magnitogorsk Opera and Ballet Theatre is located at Lenin Avenue, 16, Magnitogorsk city. Founded in 1996 as a municipal music theatre, since 1998 it bears its current name after its first opera performance "Carmen". The troupe organizes over 200 events annually, attracting more than 40 thousand viewers. The ensemble actively tours, including international performances, presenting various genres: operas, musicals, ballets and theatrical festivals.

Monument "Tyt frontu"

The monument "Tyl -- Frontu" is situated in the park next to the Eternal Flame in Magnitogorsk, standing atop an 18-meter embankment overlooking the River Ural. It is a federal-level cultural heritage site unveiled to mark the city's 50th anniversary in 1979. Bronze sculptures depicting a worker and a soldier wielding a sword, each 15 meters tall, symbolize the contributions of Magnitogorscan's inhabitants toward victory. Nearby are plaques listing the names of departed city residents. It constitutes the initial segment of the renowned triptych culminating with memorials such as "Motherland Mother" in Volgograd and "Warrior-Liberator" in Berlin.

Boris Rushchov's Apartment-Museum

Boris Ruchyov's Museum-Apartment is located in Magnitogorsk at Lenina Avenue, house 69, apartment 1. It is the only literary museum of the Southern Urals situated in the poet's first residence, who was a founder of the city. The museum exhibits personal belongings, manuscripts and other items of the poet. Literary meetings and excursions to regional literary sites are held here. It consists of three rooms and is part of the Magnitogorsk Historical and Regional Studies Museum.

Magnitogorsk Metallurgical Combine Museum (MMK)

The Magnitogorsk Metallurgical Combine Museum is located in Magnitogorsk at Pushkin Avenue, 19. It was opened in 1973 and is situated in the historical building of the Defense House. The museum exhibits that showcase the development of the combine and exploration of iron ore deposits of Magnet Mountain, with a special focus on the period of World War II. Visitors can see T-72 tank, armored personnel carriers and detailed model of modern MMK.

German Quarter

Magnitogorsk, between ul. Mendeleeva, Stroiteley and Uralskaya

German Quarter in Magnitogorsk - unique architectural complex built in the 1940s by German prisoners of war. Located at area #14a of Leninsky district, between Mendeleeva, Stroiteley and Uralskaya streets. Buildings resemble Bavarian and Saxon houses, clad with natural stone and decorated with decorative elements: cornices and balconies. This place stands out among Urals cities for its western architecture designed by Soviet architects G.A. Simonov, E.A. Levinson and A.A. Oley with involvement from "Magnitostroy" trust.

Mikhail Yurevich Lermontov Monument

In Magnitogorsk's M.Y. Lermontov Park stands a monument to the great poet designed by honored Russian artist Ivan Korzhev. Lermontov is depicted sitting in traditional Caucasian burka with an open book in his hands; behind him is a mysterious image of the demon interpreted by some as an angel. The monument is made from copper and bronze materials and includes metal plaques with fragments from "Confession" and "Prayer" poems.

The monument to the first Komsomol builders of Magnitka is located in V.I. Chapaev Square, Magnitogorsk. Opened in 1966, the pedestal is made of refractory magnesite, 6.5 meters high. A sculpture made of wrought aluminum, 3 meters high, was installed using funds collected by city youth during subbotniki. On a marble plate there is an engraved inscription: "To the first Komsomol builders of Magnitka from the Komsomol members of the 60s." The plaque was laid in 1958 to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the Komsomol.

Parents Monument

The Parents Monument in Magnitogorsk was installed in 2007 in the Big Square of Metallurgov on Metallurgov Avenue. The sculpture depicts an elderly married couple symbolizing parents. The monument's author is Urals master Konstantin Giliev. Next to the parents sits a baby dove, representing a child leaving the parental nest.

Monument "Tent of First Magnitogorsk Builders"

Memorial sign "Tent of the First Magnitogorsk Builders" is located on Sverdlov Square in Magnitogorsk. It is the city's only federal architectural monument. It is made in the form of a triangular tent from monolithic reinforced concrete installed on a concrete platform. On the pedestal there is a fragment of poet B.A. Ruchyov's poem. The composition is complemented by a cast iron hand with a piece of ore symbolizing the beginning of construction of Magnitogorsk.

Lukomorye Park

Lukomorye Park is located near Metallurg-Magnitogorsk sports club. There are sports fields for football, volleyball, tennis and mini-golf, as well as an equipped beach with sunbeds and an open stage for events. During summer, catamaran and boat rentals are available. The park has cafes and wooden gates with wrought iron inserts. Entry is free; the park operates daily from 10 am to 10 pm.

Park by EternalFlame

Magnitogorsk Eternal Flame Park is situated along the Ural River embankment in Magnitogorsk's Right Bank district. Following significant improvements in 2017, it was named a finalist for the All-Russia Parks Prize. It includes various memorial complexes and monuments honoring participants in World War II, featuring plaques listing the names of Magnitogorsk residents who perished in combat. Originally called the Southern Cultural and Recreation Park, it is also recognized for its monument "Tylfronty," unveiled in 1979.

Holy Ascension Cathedral (Church of the Ascension of the Lord)

The Holy Ascension Cathedral is situated in Magnitogorsk beside the river. It stands at 52 meters tall, with its principal dome adorned with gold. Built with assistance from JSC MMK, the interior showcases icons created by artists from Trinity-Sergius Lavra. Following a blaze in winter 2003, the structure needed restoration. Adjacent lies a memorial to Saint Simon of Verkhoturye.

Magnitogorsk Mosque

The Cathedral Mosque of Magnitogorsk is located at the intersection of Gryaznova and Marjani streets near the river. The building replaced an old small mosque and features snow-white facades decorated with traditional ornaments. A minaret gives it height and grandeur. The architecture of the mosque is inspired by the Jerusalem Dome of the Rock. The mosque was built in 2004 according to the design of architect N.G. Sayakhov.

Mikhail Archangel Church

Mikhail the Archangel Church in Magnitogorsk, built in 1982, stands out with its light facade in white and blue hues featuring classical decorations. The building is crowned by a multi-tiered bell tower located centrally, giving it a symmetrical appearance. Originally, the church was constructed on the site of a wooden residential home reconstruction.

Nikolay Cathedral

Magnitogorsk, Chkalova St

Nikolay-Chudotvorets Church in Magnitogorsk is one of few new churches built in the Soviet Union in 1946 according to architect M.N. Dudin's project. The building features gilded bulbous domes and a high shatrov bell tower. The church was closed in 1960 and used for warehouses and planetarium for long time but after reconstruction in 1995 it was returned to believers. Originally the temple's building was constructed on the site of former store.

Ecological Park

Magnitogorsk, Lesoparkovaya St

Ecological park in Magnitogorsk is located on the western outskirts of the city and covers an area of about 50 hectares. In summer, one can engage in sports on open fields, rent sports equipment and relax with family at a children's playground or have a picnic. During winter, there are ski trails and an ice rink available for visitors. The artificial ponds and picturesque vegetation, featuring plants from various regions of the Urals, delight the guests.
