Mikhail Yurevich Lermontov Monument

In Magnitogorsk's M.Y. Lermontov Park stands a monument to the great poet designed by honored Russian artist Ivan Korzhev. Lermontov is depicted sitting in traditional Caucasian burka with an open book in his hands; behind him is a mysterious image of the demon interpreted by some as an angel. The monument is made from copper and bronze materials and includes metal plaques with fragments from "Confession" and "Prayer" poems.
