Christ's Birth Church

Christ's Nativity Church in Cherepovets is located on Park Avenue. It is one of the few restored churches in the city, rebuilt in 1997 after a fire in 1989 completely destroyed the original temple. Originally built in 1789 with funds from landowner N.D. Panfilov and parishioners, it lost its original appearance during Soviet times when decorative elements of the facade were destroyed and the bell tower was dismantled. The church was closed in 1930 and finally destroyed half a century later.
