monument Venerable Afanasii and Feodosiyu Cherepovetskim

The monument to Sts. Afanasiy and Feodosy of Cherepovets is located in Cherepovets on Sobornaya Hill near the Assumption Cathedral. The composition consists of two four-meter bronze statues of saints created by sculptor Aleksey Arkhipov from Saint Pyotrsburg. Afanasiy is depicted with raised hands in monastic attire while Feodosy points to a hill where he had a vision. The monument was unveiled in October 1992 at the foundry of OJSC "Severstal". The saints founded the Assumption Monastery which later became the nucleus of the city of Cherepovets.
