Volgograd Planetarium

Volgograd Planetarium is situated on Gagarin Street. Opened in 1954, it was a gift from workers of the German Democratic Republic for I.V. Stalin's 70th birthday. The main hall features an "Planetarium" apparatus with 99 projectors resembling an ancient temple with Vera Mukhina's sculpture "World". Inside, there are marble interiors and flooring made of rare tree species. Full-dome shows and thematic space programs take place here. It ranks among the eight best planetariums worldwide.
