Central Embankment Named after 62nd Army

Central Embankment named after Army 62 in Volgograd - symbol of city's revival after World War II. Here is located parade staircase with propylea built in 1952-1953. In 1942, 13th Guards Division led by General Rodimtsev landed on this territory. Embankment was named in memory of Army 62 defending Stalingrad. From it starts Heroes' Alley - grandiose pedestrian street. On the embankment there is an "Art" fountain, while upper terrace's architectural ensemble was created by renowned architects.
