Pavlovsk Square

Heroes' Square in Volgograd - the central city square where Eternal Flame burns in memory of defenders who fell in battle. Once it was Alexandrovskaya Square of Tsaritsyn. Nearby stands new Aleksandro-Nevsky Cathedral. From Central Embankment to the square leads Heroes' Alley. In February 1963 here for the first time lit Eternal Flame. The square was an important defense site during the Battle of Stalingrad.
