Mikhail Panikhaka Monument

The monument to Mikhail Panikha is installed in Volgograd on Metallurgov Avenue. It is dedicated to Hero of the Soviet Union, marine infantry soldier who on October 2, 1942 performed a heroic act during the defense of Stalingrad by throwing himself with burning incendiary bottle onto a German tank. The authors of the memorial are sculptor Robert Haritonov and architect Yuri Belousov. Mikhail Panikaha was awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union posthumously for his courageous action.
