Lenin Monument at Volga-Don Canal

The Lenin Monument on the Volga-Don Canal in Volgograd is a monument 57 meters high made from monolithic reinforced concrete; Lenin's figure stands 27 meters tall and is the central part of the composition. The sculpture is situated near the first canal lock and serves as its main dominating feature. Construction of the Volga-Don Canal took 3.5 years and required over one million people to participate. The monument was designed by renowned Soviet sculptor Evgeniy Vuchetich.
