Motherland Calling Monument

The monument "Mother-Russia Calls!" is situated on Mamayev Kurgan in Volgograd. The sculpture's height including the sword totals 85 meters; it was designed by sculptor Evgeniy Vuchetich. The monument's opening took place on October 15, 1967. Initially, a two-figure composition was planned but only the image of Mother-Russia calling to battle with her raised hand holding a sword was realized. The structure weighs over 8 thousand tons. In 2019-2020, the monument underwent major restoration work.
