Kazan Cathedral

The Kazan Cathedral in Volgograd stands on Lipetskaya Street. This stone structure in pseudo-Russian style with a symmetrical cross shape was founded in 1894 and consecrated in 1899. A copy of a Parisian Orthodox church, it became cathedral after the Battle of Stalingrad and its restoration. The Kazan Cathedral is dedicated to the Kazan Icon of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
