House of Pavlov

The Pavlov House situated at Soviet Street, 39 in Volgograd became a symbol of heroic defense of Stalingrad during World War II. For nearly two months, the garrison held onto the building which had important tactical position due to its view of surroundings and proximity to the Volga River. Multinational Soviet soldiers defended the house, which later became a monument to courage and resilience of city defenders. Today, on its side wall there is a memorial wall made from special material resembling war-damaged masonry, commemorating the heroes of the defense.
